New cd payer w/ intermittent clicking sounds

I put a new CD player in my Jeep and I'm having some problems. When using the CD player or the USB Mp3 player I get this intermittent clicking coming through the speakers, it's almost like static. Everything seems to be fine with the engine off, but when it's running the clicking/popping noise starts. I exchanged it for another one tonight but it didn't help.

Any idea's????

Are they burned disc or ripped songs off the web, if so they may have some background noise in it.

Yes they are.

I thought about that but it only does it with the engine running. I'll try a store purchased CD to rule that out all together.

I just tried it with the last TOOL album and it still does it. I did however notice that I could sometimes get it to happen by pressing the accelerator. Some kind of ignition interference? If so why wouldn't it happen when the radio is on????
