new cd deck, not getting any power...

so my old 12v stereo's seem to be working fine for my car, i go out and get a new 14.4v nextar cd player with a usb drive on it, wire it up, nada.

I get 14.28v from the power wires to the cd player when the car is in idle 13.3v(drops 0.01v per second) when the car is off... and the car battery reads 14.36v idle, 13.18 when the car is off. I don't however get any votage from the memory wire on the car.

So i'm not sure if i have 0.1v not enough power, no power on the memory wire screwing things up, or is the cd deck just defective??? I wired back up the stock tape deck and it works fine so.... ya...

No power on the memory wire will definitely screw things up. Some factory radios will still play with no constant power voltage, but all aftermarket head units need voltage on both constant and accessory to turn on. You probably have a blown fuse in the vehicle. Check your other constant power accessories, like horn, cig lighter, dome light, etc to help find out what fuse it is.

well, little update: The radio works amazing (who cares), but the usb port works speratically, sometimes just in the middle of a song it'll just start going thru the tracks one after another like it can't find any music on the drive or something, othertimes it works fine.

cd player is also acting kind of funny both on regular and cd-r sometimes it'll play, then the very same song or cd it'll just sound like i'm listening to static from space.

Nextar tech support said to return it for an exchange at canadian tire, i figured i'd just post up here see if anyone else had a suggestion before i exchange it tomorow.

The only thing in the owner's manual that talk's about error's playing is heat in the car, it is pretty hot today and i didn't start having problems until i left my car parked outside my gf's aparatment building and since then it's been acting a little funny. I'm letting the car cool down in the garage for a couple hours to see if that's it. I have "manual AC" so i don't know if this cd player is going to work for me if it's this sensitive to heat.

I soldered all the wire's pretty well and used heat shrink over them so i'm 99% sure the wiring is sound but i'll double check(i also wired the front R & L speakers backwards ) . I did have some problems pushing the player in, i made sure all the wires were out of the way but it took a good shove with my fingers to get the player to click into the anti theft cage.
