new car, new system, check it out

to whomevers lost....i started out with the gain set to 1 out of eleven...then i was using the controller which only has 1 knob to adjust the amount of bass....i found out that the controller is actually a boost controller so that should stay at or close to all the way down....and i should set the gains to higher than 1 out of eleven...

correct all?

why is that asking for trouble....explain?
actually bass boost is essentally a gain at 45hz (asumming it is bass boost at 45hz, as almost all bassboost is)

so your amp gain is down but at 45hz you got your gain up pretty high.

try putting the bas boost down and adjust your gain, you will see an improvement in the overal spectrum of the sub playing and not just at 45hz.

what is your box tuned too? because if you have it tuned to were your port peaks at 60 hz the 45hz bas bosst isnt really helping you, you would see a better overall gain if you adjusted you gains properly and used bass boost sparingly.

just my 2 cents

yeah well the place that did my install didnt even hook it up...i did thinking it was a gain control...stupid me...im new to the car audio game...if its plugged in but turned all the way down...will that have the same affect as if i just unplugged it...or does it need to be unplugged to be really "turned off"

and dont forget to make sure the bass boost on the amp itself is down... then check out the gain setting tutorial (its in the amplifiers section)

then you can look into a new HU with woofer level controls if u want

alright.....last question....thanks for all the help everyone BTW...without you guys nothing would be possible...ive been doing the WRONG thing for about a month now...using the boost controller as gain...do you think it permenately (sp) dammaged any of my equiptment or i should be alright....amp never went into protect or anything just to let you know...

thanks again
