I am going to add a new battery to the back to run a hifonics bxi2006d, the batt is going to be a Deka Intimidator 9A31. i'm going to run a 1/0 wire from front stock batt to the back batt, i have a stock 100A alt, do i really need to do the big 3 if im not upgrading my alt or front batt?

think of it this way. U want the positive wire and negative wire to be the same AWG right? Well when u add a 1/0 going to the back bat. The negative on the front bat should have a 1/0 to balance it out.
