new aq3500.1 or memphis 4kw

so im stuck between the aq3500.1 and a memphis 4k. the memphis is 250 cheaper and i could get a 2nd from the guy for another 500 so 1000 for 8kw shipped.

how well do the memphis hold up? ive heard they are current hogs and it takes a very good electrical to run them. is that true? and what voltage are the memphis rated at?

I also heard this as well. Seen many post about if the voltage drops good enough then pop fire.

AQ the 4KW is to current hungry for what you get out of them.

current hungry sure, but if you dont have the proper electrical, you shouldnt be playing with ~4kw anyhow. i've beat on mine daily at 1.2 ohm nominal for a year and a half, no problems. it was previously rebuilt by db-r though, for a problem with (i think he said?) horizontally mounted mosfets and the way they were connected to the board, making them prone to vibration damage. thats how db-r explained it to me in the e-mail as i remember.

if you do have the electrical, 250 is a lot of cash... halfway towards that second 4k, but you'll really need some wires and batteries.

i ended up going with a clif designs 4800.1lx. rated at 6k at .5 ohm. great amp and i love it. and my electrical is a 300amp alt, 55ah batt up front, 2 125ahs in the back and i drop from 14.9 to 13.2 on a burp
