NEW AQ extended pole piece?? WTF is this

I just noticed on an AQ 10" HDC3 that i Can see a pole piece looking thing sticking up like at least an inch an ahalf into the coil from the motor. The former has some 1/4 inch holes in it and I can see what looks like a really long pole in there or did they leave the shim in it? It was purchased supposedly before the "upgrades" but it looks totally different than my other mid 09 model. Anyone else notice this?

Look through the vent holes -- that is what he is talking about.

Looks black in the photo... in which case it's the pole.

Yeah it doesnt move with the coil its in there. so is it a new super long pole? Kinda like the plastic nightshade plug? I will check if the pole is plugged tonight I never looked at that.

They may have just moved the vent holes in the former or used a different coil so you can see the pole better now.

That would be called the pole piece, and no it is not plugged.

Take a flashlight, flip over the sub and look through the hole.

you guys dont get it. Ive seen a konaki motor and hdc motor and they do not have a pole piece this long. this is something new or added

I guess its not sticking out as far as i thought. Its the same as my older hdc3. no pole plugs for aq i guess.

Blow the sub and rip the soft parts out, find out what it is. Recone it.
