New amp kit and now subs are softer???

Ok well I just got done with my 3 hour project of upgrading my amp wires from 8ga to 4 ga and doing my big 3 with 1/0 ga (well, big 2 since I fiddled with my batt - to chassis and the wire came loose from the crimp...grrr!)

But anyway, as I was testing out the new setup, (gains and frequency same before upgrade) the subs and the bass actually sound softer than they did before I upgraded the power wire. Isn't it supposed to be louder and better since my 8ga was too small for my 700 watt amp? What's, the deal here? I don't wanna turn up my gain to high or the frequency level before I start clipping or something. Someone please help!

You might just be paranoid.

Or you got a bad connection somewhere?

Check that ground that you said wiggled loose. Might have shorted against something and popped a cap in the amp.

Also, reset your gain. Dont just "guess" where to set it though. Actually set it correct, use a DMM or an oscope.
