New Amp just came in

What kind of beefy electrical current upgrade do you have to handle that beast? Optima yellow top + stock alternator and stock grounds?
Sadely for now, and for a very short time, all stock. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif I know i know. horrible. It will be upgraded. I plan to go 200amp alt, big 3, yellow top.

the amp is 2.7"tall, 12.4" wide and 27.3" long at 28 lbs i should have it in today

I have some issues. I thought i had a good understanding of OHM loads and everything, but i dont know now.

Heres the scoop, i bought a MA Audio EHO sub a while back. It is quad voice coil at 1.5 ohm each and 5500w rms. I just bought a MA Audio HK802SX. the amp is 2 channels and

2200w rms per channel at 0.5om

1400w rms per channel at 1 ohm

I wired the subs in parrallel at 0.75 ohm as per the12volt.com

about a minute after install a bad smell started comming from the sub and was kinda crackly. I kept the amp turned down. From my understanding the smaller the ohm number the less impedance. From my logic(not saying that means anything) if the sub is wired to handle more impedance then its recieving, then to me that would be like pushing less power then the sub can handle, right?

A friend explained the math may not add up for that to be right. He said i should get a impedance matching transformer to adjust the ohms to match exactly from the amp to the sub.

CAN ANYONE HELP??? Is there anychance the sub is still salvagable, or toast?

the smell could just be glue. crackly could be a lose input or loose wire some where in your install.

be easy on the sub for awhile until it lossens up.

I be more concerned abt your electrcl upgrade &

sell that sub and get 4 12's. dats alot of amp for one sub.

x2 to all of that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

takin a big risk runnin that high current amp with ALL stock. just be careful with the gain on your amp and if your ride has a volt or batttery gauge, keep an eye on it when your poundin til it barely just starts to drop......and dont turn it up any further til u upgrade electrical IMO

So according to the Amps specs. the amp produces

800w rms pr channel at 2 ohms

1400w rms per channel at 1 ohm

2200w rms per channel at 0.5 ohms

4400w rms mono

So i have two Kicker L7 15"s that are dual 4 ohm voice coils. Since the amp is capable at producing so much power would it be dangerous wire each sub in parrallel at 2 ohms?? the subs are rated to handle 1000w rms and 2000 peak. I would hate to risk loosing them. but would love to get the most out of them.
