Yea i currently have Pioneer TS-A6880R in my cougar. They **** though i want to buy a new pair. I know you can fit a 5x7 speaker in the opening. So would these speakers be an upgrade? Alpine SPR-57LP

Any input would be helpfull, or if you guys think another speaker would be better off please let me know.

Well to answer the question yes the Alpines would be a an upgrade, albeit a small one. But here are a couple of other options: 1) Lose the rear speakers altogether and bridge your amp to run the front set or bi-amp them. 2) Get a set of midbasses with no tweets and make a baffle to mount the new speaker in the stock location; you can do this by using your old speakers as a template to trace and cut out the new baffle. I make the last suggestion because I don't like to use tweeters in the rear of the vehicle. However if you want them you can put a complete component set in using the suggestion above.
