Is a 1/4 carat a decent amount for a necklace? Just wanting to get a nice little necklace for my girlfriend, and I found one at Kay's for $199.

1/4 carat wont be that big.

its a nice size though.

smaller stones dont show flaws as much

look for good "cut, clarity, and color"

not a decent size, 1/4 of a karat is very small it's like 4mm. I hope that it's a solitare and not t.w (total weight)

I love her though, and just wanted to do something real special. All of the gifts I've gotten her have a personal meaning between us both, and I want to give this to her as our night together is winding down.

i like that thought since it represents your backgrounds. either choice would be something she could wear all the time, but like others have said 1/4 carat total weight is not a lot. i think the tiffany necklace is really cool and simple... maybe save the journey diamonds for a later time in your relationship. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Get her a tattoo. It'll last longer, and for the $199, you can get a real nice one.

from my personal exp's stay away from big jewalry stores the little ones will take better care of you and give you better deals and most importantly PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE

surely you can find a better gift for your girlfriend than a diamond, and surely you have more social conscience than that.

If i were you i would read up on conflict diamonds and the such before you make a move like that.

Unless you can be guaranteed that the diamond was mined in Canada, you are are a jerk if you buy diamonds from an unknown origin.
