bought a couple neons from meijer the other night and wanting to hook them up in my car. they all have the cigarette lighter plug-in. but i want to hard wire them and use a toggle switch to turn them on and off. have 3 lights one for in back seat one for by stereo and one that splits into 2 for under dash by driver and passenger feet. any ideas on how i can hard wire these and use the switch. the switch is an illuminated switch also.

you could always run a dedicated wire from your batt to the switch and then from the switch to to the wires.

you could always run a dedicated wire from your batt to the switch and then from the switch to to the wires.

Just tap use a vampire tap on your cigarette wires and dont forget to use fuses.

i was planning on either getting the power from my stereo head unit or running a wire from the battery. but didnt know if i could just cut the cigarette plug ins off and hook positive to the scc part of switch and have all the negatives run to the ground. plus some of the light have a little box thing halfway up the wires. dont know if i have to keep that or not. and for fuses. would i beable to use the fuse distribution box i have hooked up to my amp? and run the power that way?

stay away from using the stereo fusing, its too large and wont help. tap into the back of your cig lighter, and leave that box just where it is.

so just attach power wire to my cigarette lighter an have all positives run into the acc hook up. the have all negatives go to ground then to car frame? or can i tap into my remote wire for power? remote wire probably be easier to tap into

your remote wire may not have the voltage output that you need

ok ill just tap into the back of my cigarette lighter plug. sounds to be the best bet. especially since if fuse blows can just replace fuse in my fuse box

well no **** turn the switch to off so lights dont stay on. but i would keep them on for like an hour at a time if driving somewhere. and sometimes have my phone charger or my fuzz buster plugged into the cigarette lighter. so didnt know if that and the lights being on would blow the fuse cuz all the power

it shouldnt, most phone charges or fuzz busters shouldnt be drawling that much amperage. most fusing is for a worst case scenario
