NEO Accident

I would concur.
Being the type of guy I am though I would prefer a sub with n52 over n40 if they were both the same price.
I wouldn't. I would be very satisfied with what the speaker designer chose for the design since (s)he knew the required criterion for the build.

Of course, you will see the small companies coming out with N52 neo not because it aids in their design, but rather because the higher number makes it "better". This usually equates to more bragging rights.

After a certain point the neo will saturate the steel top and bottom plates anyway, once this happens it doesn't matter anymore. As for the DDZ, I have heard from numerous sources that it only needs like 3 of the neo bars to saturate the steel in it and that all the other bars are superfluous and only there to make people think it is better.

Thanks for filling in the blanks Bose. Who knows - depending on the driver design perhaps the intent is not to fully saturate the plates to begin with.

Right!!! I'll send you my gold bars too to have them polished:crazy:
lol, you may not get them back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif or ill send you my copper bus bars instead.

Im sure Nick could work something out.

The steel plates are made of a special alloy, Permendur, with a higher saturation point. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Generally around the 23400 Gauss range. One tesla is equal to 10000 gauss, so yeah, that is correct. Then again, you're right. But you're forgetting something. Have you seen inside of the 99z motors? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'm not about to explain it, but put it this way, it's stupid simple and does not need a top plate to contain the field, so the main problem is saturation of the back plate and that it has to extend through the pole to the area where the voice coil resides. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Since we've had arguments before I can't tell if you are being snide or agreeing actually, lol. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Anyway, yea, you don't always have to saturate the plates, heck, I don't think most designs do, I was just sayin all these people thinking higher grade neo is better in a sub need to consider that it is better to a point. And to me the DDZ is the best example of that, using over twice what is needed just to make people think it is better, however even then you can't argue with the success of the 99z.

Read above post. xD

Also, bus bars? Where? I might actually be interested if the price is right, and they're thicker than my 250kcmil Cu wire. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, I am not saying the 99z is a bad design, lol. I was just saying that it used more neo than needed. Obviously the 99z is an amazing driver and you can't argue with it's success, it is just the best example of a driver that uses more neo than needed.

Well, I would say that the magnetic field from the top plate are alone would be enough to get the job done, but the back plate just adds to that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif You can still add neo for that reason alone.

We had arguments? How drunk was I when this was happening?

Anyway, nothing snide at all, given that fact that we are posting in the Thunderdome where all logic get sucked out the window. I'm surprised this thread hasn't been deleted since it doesn't belong here.

The 99z is interesting to look at, although I have not had a chance to see it up close. I probably never will.

Haha, it was back last summer when I was hyping up the new Mag before it was released, lol. Yes, I was a retard in retrospect, but I hope no one holds a grudge.

I also agree, I would love to see a 99z, there is a DD dealer about 2 hours away from my school, but I doubt they even have 9500 series in stock.

Just your thought about using neo in your subs, The design aspect. Would you go z style, IA style, or TC style.
Umm my design isn't really any of those. Maybe a cross between TC and DD. First design had the steel oversaturated to the point where it was just a waste of money. Cut back the amount of N52 and upped the steel to a good level imo. I'll see how they perform when the final parts arrive. I don't see the point in using anymore neo than necessary because the price gets absurd and the average user will never be able to afford it. If the average user (with a good budget haha) can't afford a driver, who cares what it can do?
