Need suggestions for multimedia h/u

Hey I wanted to get some of your expert opinions on what kind of multimedis h/u I should get. I'm new to this but want quality. I want a clean sounding / great looking unit with expansion possibilities. What do you think about the motorized LCD units? Do the motors burn out? Your help is appreciated!
