depends on what you call a step down... its cheaper, its louder, its tighter...
for a daily woofer, it kicks ***. and for an SPL install, its a monster.

so...what does the mag have it the BM then?

the bm does great things with minimal power....

the mag does greater things with power that would break a bm...

The Mag is a "super woofer". It can take the abuse of 1500 + watts all day long. SQ and great SPL are no problem.

The BM's can't handle the massive abuse that the Mag's can. They were designed to be used with less power, and perform accordingly.
