N00b sayin hi! With a beat to death question!

WWelp...8th order didnt work out as planned. ...mids and highs(70hz and up) were very loud but lows were awful. ...a few more ports on the b chamber and we will see how she is as a 6th order....by the way...the wife was in the house when I put the box in the truck(as much as I could)....she said it sounded like a jet goin over the house..lol....ill keep goin with it but for now ill see about a 6th order and go from there

I certainly admire your ambition, but I'd suggest that most of those ports are far too crowded to work properly. You MUST maintain a port width of clearance between port openings and internal walls, external walls, or driver. It is possible that the same design with correct geometry so that that ports could function as predicted might actually work for you.

Also, this sort of project would be far less expensive if you were testing with 8" or even 6" woofer and scaling up as you perfect various ratios.

Thank you very much for the info.....so far I have very little cash into this enclosure and am not worried about the 15 I have in there...I was given the 15 about 10 years ago and have been slamming it since then. .....im just wanting to try building enclosures...thats it....what would you suggest I do with this box? I am very curious as to how to make this box very loud in the low frequencies. ..I am not worried about SQ....just looking for help, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!....thank you guys ahead of time!

The reason im not worried about the 15 is because I have an eclipse 12 TI that I baby the HELL out of and dont have room for the 15 and the 12 in my truck(im trying to convince my wife to put a system in her SUV but she's not having it) so the 15 is expendable in my eyes...

A sheet of wood, box of screws, tube of glue + PVC pipe adds up if you're doing 1 a week.

You may not be far off to turn it onto an ABC box (google it, there's a few huge threads on other forums about the ratios and port sizes). I've experimented with those and I can say they have an impressive bandwidth if space and wood isn't an issue.

MDF is a supluss in my house so 3/4 MDf is what I use.....I did put a few more ports in the B chamber and one more in the A chamber all 1 1/2 so that makes one 3" and 3 1.5" in th B chamber and 3 1.5" in the A chamber. ....took it to the truck and hooked it up...sounds decent but there is ALOT of port noise! Im going to put 12" pvc in the B chamber ports and 8" in the A chamber how she goes.....any recommendations???....after the extra ports were cut this was tested as a 6th order by the way
