My very Special 1966 Buick

Hey guys, wanted to start a log long ago, but didn't have the whole photobucket thing figured out. Hopefully this works and everyone can see my progress.

I'm 34, always been an audio hobbyist. Bought this car at 15 for $500. Chrome is immaculate and stored clean. Drove her as my daily for 3 years once I was fully licensed after fixing floor and getting safety.

Stored for 10 years after I got my next car, and started working on it again about 5 years ago.

It was a 4 door hard top Buick Special with a V6 and 2 speed.

Now, it is 2 door, permanent convertible with cage...2 seater. 350 Chev. And 4 speed auto. Lowered 2.5" in rear, 3.5" in front, new shocks, springs, helper bags in rear (for 1000lbs extra weight). Disk brakes in front, power steering upgrade....

I'll have 7 batteries on the stereo individually wired with 2/0 to bus bars, 10 farad cap to the Hifonics XI Colosus. 2 Hifonics XI Zeus, running 1 Eclipse 15" Titanium, 2 JBL 8's in kickpanels/floor vents, 2way and 3way Focal components in each door. 3 way crossover, DD10, 2 fans under each amp, l.e.d.'s inside sub box, ports, and soon everywhere...

Thanks, it's down firing onto a 24"x18"x4.25" (thick) granite surface plate...weighs 160lbs.

Finally got my front roll cage welded in place so I can work on my kick panel 8's.

I've added some 'cowls' to my subwoofer box for some added contours. I'll be fiber glassing the front roll bar into the windshield at the corners for a sleek look. She's solid now, but still rough looking. I've added a few photos on my photobucket to show the progress. Slow and steady. I'll be piecing together the engine soon and have 1 quarter panel left on body work (driver side). Cheers for following along.

All sounds good, except ditch the 10 farrad cap.... Like now.

I have the cap in place and ready to use just on the sub amp (Colossus). I'm gonna do some testing and see if there's a power struggle or voltage drop with/without it. Easy to delete if not necessary. There's a lot of mixed reviews on these I know. Always willing to test and see for myself if any drawbacks.
