my subs are falling apart..

I have two 12 inch JL Audio W6's, the older 6 ohm dual vc discontinued ones. I noticed the other day that the foam surrounds where looking really dry and cracked/. today i went and looked at them and one the surround is completly coming off, i would say its about half way off. and the other surround is cracked all the way through. it doesnt even look like it ripped it looks more like the glue or whatever holds the foam on the cone has just quit sticking. does anyone know what would couse this or what i could do to fix it? can i send them somewhere like jl? i do not have a reciept for them i got them off ebay a about a year or so ago. thnks

you have a receipt if you payed for them with paypal or if you left feeback for the item of they left you feedback you can go back and click on the item number and view the receipt

JL, the one instance where you dont really get what you pay for.

I don't know about that, a member posted a quote they got for a recone for a w7 and it was around $400 I believe. So that surround might be more pricey than you think.

Can't you just try and glue the surround back on?

I could glue it back on but they are still dry and cracked.

This is a common problem with the older JL woofers. I have seen foam surround kits for these on ebay. Fairly inexpensive and I wouldn't think it would not be much more that a remove and reglue.

its just a generic surround where kits are sold quite often.
