My Internet Connection >> Yours

me ftw
yeah but mine has 100k computers using the same internet LOL. This connection is used by the 4th largest school district in the country and we all use the same friggin IP LOL. I dont think mine is that bad considering.

To everyone that posted their school's speeds... ughh too bad your network admins are probably nazi's and have every port in the known universe blocked, and log every website you goto. And if a p2p port is opened you probably get banned from the network for what a day? or until you go get ITS.

Having my own place and internet, ftw //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yup, my friends campus has everything blocked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif . My other friend in Santa Cruz has it a little easier, ports are open but if u upload more than 2GB in a 24 hour period they shut down ur net for a day for the first offence, than a week for 2nd offence, duno what happens at 3rd.

Wow that absolutely sucks for you. Right now I'm dling at 2.5MBps sustained and I'm at a university, you just have to find ways around stuff. And I highly doubt they log every single freaking website, in fact, I don't think they care.

The ports here are closed for the most part. Bittorrent doesn't work very well, but I do fine with Limewire.

Around here, you don't get in trouble if you don't get complained on. I got complained on by Warner Bros. one time and I got a warning. So I said fvck bittorrent and switched to newsgroups which are WAY faster and the most secure. The university will have no idea what I'm doing.

dude, they log everything, computer sets off red-flags, but i'll agree even in the terms of use, they just say until you get caught by someone else you're fine.

they DO record every movement though.

don't think for a second you've got any privacy on a university network //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

mine bounces from 603 back to 590 while downling binaries from newsgroups, and it's fast enough for me.

$35 a month for cable plus unlimited newsgroup access is more than i need to get movies/games/music faster than i can watch/play/listen to them, so i'm content

except roadrunner only provides 7-10 day binary retention, so i have to keep on my toes............

i usually check out newzbin once a week, and make sure i didn't miss anything
