when i was in the dorms my freshmen year they installed a gigabit connection over winter break.

i got back and could get dc++ transfers at up to 20Mb/s!!!!! with average rates in the 5-10Mb/s range.

i could get a 4.5Gb dvd image in 5-10 minutes!

i really miss those days........

Anyone at a decent University, with a decent LAN can get that. Hell it's around winter break too, so probably not many people on your network.
