Ok, so I took my amp to this guy to powder coat my RE 35.1. Mind you, he powder coated my Autotek before, so I trusted him... This is his website --> San Tan Powder Coat

Well I have been calling him, texting him, even went by his house and he is ducking and dodging.

If for some reason I cant get my heatsink back, is my amp useless or what are my options???

Im pretty mad of course... But dont want to be stuck with a good board that I cant use.

You can make some sort of heatsink but you will need something. You can get crazy and custom fab something
Well I figured I can maybe have someone mill one, but that will probably cost the same as buy another... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I dont have the skills or tools to mill one myself. Or less you mean go some other route.

You don't have to get too fancy. You can buy some aluminum stock and get it cut to size without things getting terribly expensive. It won't be easy but it's possible. Not sure how much you have into the amp to begin with and if its worth that cost to you though. Personally I couldn't let that circuit board go to waste

Amps that have plexi bottoms/tops still need some kind of aluminum heatsink. Sometimes people throw a piece of plexi on an amp without realizing that they are setting themselves up for failure. Yes in many amps you can make it work or if it was designed like that you would be fine but in some amps the bottom plate is a very integral part of the cooling system of the amp and replacing it with plexi will cause major issues.

I think from what it sounds like he is missing the majority of the amp (can't even really install it) rather than just missing the bottom (guts cover) which people commonly replace w/ plexi an fans in it

Yes, I am missing the entire heatsink... All I have is the board...

you can buy some type of aluminum stock to use as a heatsink for each side of the amp.. ebay has all kinds....

use some plexi on the top and bottom to hold everything together...

or you could send the board to me and i will build a amp cooling box like this. smaller of course. use some alum stock on the sides and clamp the transistors down. place it inside the box and put the top on ...forced air induction...lol
