My hdc310a>3510

In the same box, my AQ is actually louder and sounds better than the 3510 on the exact same power. It's about 1500w or so. I was thinking that my 3510 would be the best overall because that's about the optimal wattage for that sub. But the hdc310a blew it away. The box is about 1.5 cubic feet tuned to 30 hz. I don't quite understand why. Anyone want to enlighten me?

break in makes a huge difference.. i installed 3500 and AQhd3s the 3500 sounded alot more natural.. the new spiders are a huge improvement...the HD just wouldn't do most music justice.. break the 35 in for at least 20 hours...

Both are very good subs...could just be the box and that the 3500's like to be tuned a little higher.

several people do better with the 3500s with that power.. 30 is too low 34 or so in 1.75 will do much better...

probably not, the hdc likes to be tuned high like the dd also.

I'm not sure. The HDC3 actually responds better. It is louder and hits with more authority than the DD.

Well, as far as I know, AQ recommends 36-38 hz for tuning. DD recommends 40 hz. That 2-4 hz lower may be the reason why the AQ likes the lower tuning better than the DD. Just a thought.

Ive heard a HDC3 10 (copper) in 1.5ft3 tuned to 34hz and had lows for days, and still got the upper notes but not with the impact on the upper end. I think the AQ is just able to "function" a little better in a box thats not ideal for either sub.

Personally, I love lows, but with either sub, I would not have tuned as low as you have. However, the AQ impressed me, its not the greatest on music, but sounds much better than I though.

Interesting comparsion though, I suggest bumping the tuning up to around 36hz and see if its a difference then.

hmmnn...both good subs in my opinion. Box is not really optimal for either sub though.
