My hard luck story

About 3 months ago I put an Alpine 9813 in my Nissan truck...$400...

About a month later I put in a pair of Boston Acoustic RC620's...$300...

Then I removed the 2 little jump seats in the back, built 2 boxes to fit into the space and installed a pair of Boston Acoustic 6x9's...$200...

Since I have never put in this good a system, I had everything installed...

About $1000 invested...

Just starting to look for amps and subs...

About 2 weeks before Xmas everything was stolen...went to a blues bar, parked on a major street, well light...but I have to admit, I was careless...I didn't take the faceplate off...so the HU was visible...

They cut up the dash...they cut around the door speakers...I think some kind of power saw...they found my boxes mounted in the jump seats, unbolted them and took those...it was like they knew what I had...

The interior damage was significant...

Here is the problem...since it was all aftermarket, the insurance didn't cover the audio stuff...but it did cover the damage to the interior, pretty significant...

So...the moral to the story is this...

Make sure your insurance covers the stuff...it will take a rider...

Remove your faceplate whenever unattended...

Install a burglar alarm...

Now, I can't afford to replace the stuff...so my wife and kids felt sorry for me and got me Best Buy cards for Xmas...so I replaced it with cheap stuff...not the same...but it won't hurt as much if it happens again...

That's my story

Steve

sorry man that sux. it's pretty sad when people have to go around looking in cars with a saw and steal whatever you have....american society i guess. what one guy has another guy wants. once i get my system installed there's no way i'm not gonna get insurance on it all. good luck in the future.

Daaaaaaaaamn sorry to hear it, sucks *** when a thief picks you as the next victim. Years ago I had someone steal a HU from my *****-Am and tore up my dash in the process. Luckily since it was mounted in a factory location Farmer's paid for the damage to the dash as well as replaced the HU but it still cost me my $500 deductible. As much time and cost most people put into aftermarket systems paying a little more for the rider is well worth it.

Guys...thanx for your comments...

Check your insurance...

Get a burglar alarm...don;t know if it will help or not, but maybe...

And...Green_Slip...Is this your normal attitude???...or do you have to work extra hard to be a jerk...???

Well next time try to install it yourself. Sorry about your bad luck though. Kind of cool how your kids and wife got you best buy cards, I bet this new system means alot more to you.

Take it easy.

sorry what happened to u man. it sucks whenever someone gets their stereo stolen.

thiefs should be shot with a shotgun man, n it should be self defense as they trying to rip us off =/

Similar thing happened to me, HU stolen, broken window. Thankfully they knew how to take the deck out without damaging anything. I also got best buy cards from family to aid the pain. But I instead bought a way better deck than what was stolen. Getting a dope alarm put in (before the deck). And I am just using the BB cards for dvd's, lol. But I feel your pain.

I wonder how many car audio junkies have had their stuff stolen at one point or another. I bet quite a few.

hmmmm makes me feel the need for an alarm and an insurance rider.

but i feel the pain, ive been had before too, but i was seriously asking for it, i had a 88 ranger with noi tint, and a decent size box in the back holding the subs and the amp, so they took that _2 rockwaad 10's and an urban audio amp. i know it was crap but i was 16 (6 years ago). i have since excelled - lol

peace and i dont thing that green slip was bieng a jerkm but he was laughing at the rot in hell comment left by the cat who posted before him.....ssj2xxgotenxx

.......yea that guy

peace

I lost my first HU awhile ago, it was a aiwa cdc-mp3 ($300).... I left my car in my drive way and my gf (at the time) had her car parked behind mine. Well, we both left our doors unlocked and I left the flaceplate in! AH! Needless to say I got lucky, they only took the faceplate and a carton of cigs from my gf. I think my gf was madder than I was. (I figured it was my dumb fault for not locking my doors)

Then a month or so later I went to the local mall, parked 3 spots from the front and went shopping for about 45 mins. Only to come back to my car door open and my lock sitting on the ground. My HU had been ripped out, they did leave some tools with some Initals on it, but the cops never did a **** thing.

"And...Green_Slip...Is this your normal attitude???...or do you have to work extra hard to be a jerk...???"

wtf! i was laughin at the thieves should rot in hell. da*mn get a life you a*sshole
