so a while back i smoked the voice coil in one of these kenwood 12's. These acctually lasted for a while, till i decided to put 60 RMS over the rated RMS...anyways, it looked like a normal speaker....

to...

burnt to a crisp...and yes all that unravelled when i pulled it out

ha keyword HAD...come to surprise me, it wasnt built that bad for a $50 sub if you ask me

I have that D3 Amp. Nice amp but watch the side/plastic things located on the short side that have the screw holes. They are prone to falling off after multiple installations

Nice fun there man i just recently pulled apart my audiobahn sub there was a rip in the spider somehow and my voice coil was fried

i got a question on wiring. My 400.1 has the speaker outputs as + + - -. I have a dual 2 ohm sub, and wanna wire down to 1 ohm. The problem is, i dont know if i should prewire it to 1ohm, and then connect it to either of the + -, or if i should run two runs of wire, one to each voice coil? Ive heard that when the subs outputs are like this, they are wired internally for a parrallel impedance to the amp. If this is true, then if i prewired it to one ohm, and connected it to the amp, it would yield a .5 load, right?

i had each voice coil on each speaker outputs, and it wasnt very loud, but it did sound AMAZING. i just wish i didnt have to crank up the gains to 1/2 to even begin hearing it.
