he say's it's impossible to put 1/0 gauge wire from the battery to the positive on the alternator since the factory put a 16 gauge wire. he's looking at my fuse holder and my 300 amp fuse and telling me I'm going to burn my car down, let's get someone to install it.

what should i tell him to make him realize that 95% of the car audio world has done this, does anyone have pics of their big 3 upgrade i can show him or some advice before he tries and wastes more of my money.

thanks

he has no grasp on anything i do nor any faith in my mechanic skills even though i've been going to school for it. he thinks my 2 hertz 6x9s and 2 3.5 infinitys are "loud enough" pshhh

If the factory could put 0 gauge in, or even 4/0 for that matter, for the same cost and convenience and space as 6 gauge requires, they would. If they could bolt the alternator directly to the battery somehow, conveniently, they would. The only reason they use a smaller gauge is because it is sufficient for 99.9% of the population, and therefore a waste of money for them to do anything more. The point of wire is to conduct electricity without resistance (with a few exceptions such as with electromagnets and things of the sort). Bigger wire = less resistance = better conductor = does the job better. Also LESS likely to catch on fire.

tell him if HE pays for someone to do it you let someone do it

sounds good, by the way i have one more question. I'm wiring my 2 12 re se's in parallel. i have 2 questions actually

1. if i take 2 wires and put them into one solderless connector will they both recieve power?

ex. 2 wires to send to each of the positive terminals

2. if i take the speaker wire and spilt it in two and use one side of the wire to go from the negative voicecoil to the other side negative voice coil will that work?
