My Excelon sounds like s*e*x !

I absolutely love this thing! I just got my x890 installed with some alpine coaxial speakers.. I know, the speakers aren't that great, but it sounds incredible! I'm so glad I chose the Kenwood, it's the best sounding system I've had in any of my cars so far. I spent about an hour tweaking the settings. I didn't really think the menus were all that difficult to navigate, as I've heard from some. Regardless, I love everything about this unit so far, it's amazing! Thanks to all that recommended it in my other thread.

do you have the speakers amped, or just running off of the head unit? My friends running his alpine type-s coaxs off of his head unit too, but it has next to no output only getting at max 18 RMS... but hes happy with it so I guess thats all that matters, right?

I paid 272 at onlinecarstereo.com, I'm sure you could find them for less. I am not running it amped, the power output is fine for me, I don't listen to music till my ears bleed, and the sound is extremely clean and detailed even at higher volume levels, though since the speakers are new, I don't want to abuse them too much until they're broken in, so I haven't turned it up a lot yet.

Thats awesome! The Excelone line have fabulous sound quality. I have been saying that on this forum all year long. I don't have that model, but I am just about as happy with mine as you are. I really wish I could have gotten in on the 25th anniversery edition, but I just didn't have the money at that time. If you put a mp to them speakers though you would be even more impressed, not for volume puposes, just for the detailed clarity. x2, I dont like their manual, and it took time to understand all the options and go through them...but after a while, its a reflex.

i think the spotty manual just adds to the excitement of getting it hooked up and getting to play with it.......

makes those days (or in my case months) between when you get your deck, and when you finally have it installed that much more exciting.

The menus are easy, I didn't even read the manual.

I hope you bought this deck to use the USB. If you haven't tried it yet, USE IT!! It makes things so much easier with no CDs to carry around anymore.

Do yourself a favor and throw the user's guide away, it's beyond worthless. I love my Excelon, but you gotta learn it by the seat of your pants.
