my doorpod fiberglass project!

what do u suggest instead of staples? hot glue? thats what i was using at first but it didnt workout as i planned. i didnt get nearly a tight enough pull on the fabric.
are you talking about the speaker ring staples that you have on there or for the mat it self,

if its for the speaker rings. i rearely ever use any kind of adhesive or staples around the speaker. but it depends on the install.

on one like yours i wouldnt have used any staples or glue around the rings. if you pull the fabric nice and tight on the back mold you can use ca glue ,contact cement or spray adhesive, to hold the fabric on the fiberglass mold nice and tight.

the reason why i did that is i wanted the carpet of the door to meet right up to the speaker so all u will see is the speaker. but i dont think its gonna happen.

yah spray adhesive wouldve been perfect, im gonna have to snag some from work. im pretty sure its gonna turn out nothing how i planned hehe

think im gonna trash this project.

im thinking about putting 2 AApolys in each door. and on top of that i drew a blueprint for a flush mount desing that is fool proof hehe.

after it quits raining i can get back outside and come up with a blueprint for 2 polys. if i cant fit 2 in 1 door, i will flush mount 1, then make a kickpod for the other, and probably carpet it to match the interior.

i ran 2 of them off a single channel at half gain on my pa sl4-1000(wired @ 2ohms, amp is rated 125w @ 2ohm) and they sounded awesome. now that i know i have all this extra amp power, i want to take advantage of it.

think i will probably end up leaving the rl-p 15 in the trunk to round out the system. that too, will be custom fitted/fiberglassed. when the time for that comes around i will be hitting the forums for opinions and ideas.

well at least you got a taste of FG and now you can get a better design and build done. i had to trash my first project too.

but oh well. now i got it down lol. and so will you if you keep at it.

so keep us posted on the next project, we at FIBERGLASS FORUMS.com would love to see and help you out on your projects over there.

so are you goin to run 2 as dedicated midbass and the other 2 as dedicated midrange? cause i had planned tha also but didnt have $$ to go that way plus i still have to buy an eD NINe 4

nah im gonna run all 4 around the upper misbass/midrange area. they are really awesome. i had one hooked up on the way to class jus messing with the hu and crossover. it sounds spectacular as low as a 40 hz hpf. i plan to keep it around the 80hz zone when i get my sub woofer reinstalled. not only that the midrange is so pronounced its drowning out my tweets in the dash. after i get them installed and tweek its gonna be friggin awesome. u cant beat this speakers at this price.

as for dedicated midbass and midrange i will probably have to buy some external crossovers to accomplish that. i dunno we will see what happens.

hah i stand corrected! just the one poly filled my whole car with midbass!

i fit my doorpod into my door just now and leisurely secured the poly into it with some putty. im surprised how good it sounded in that position. it was the driver side aiming at my feet and i could hear and feel it just fine. now im questioning whether i actually need 2 in each door.

as for the pod itself, it isnt the best right now. i didnt mix the last batch properly, and its been over 24 hours and still very moist to the touch in certain places. not just tacky, its moist. and i have 1 airhole. i consider this the prototype enclosure. and it is pretty decent. it fit very well into the spot, just like a glove, and it gave me exactly what i was looking for in terms of speaker performance.

now its on to the real deal =D
