my computer is messed up

a while back i reinstalled windows XP over the XP that was already installed and now everthings super slow. i had to bring the computer to a shop and they reinstalled the drivers and everything but it's still slow. i need to know if there is a way to use the XP that was installed on the computer when i got it so that it will be faster again. BTW i have some music files and pictures that i want to keep if i can change over to how the computer was before. can someone please help me?

Which part?

If you have a CD burner, then burn a copy of what you want to keep. Drop the XP disc in and follow the instructions. You will be prompted to do a fresh install.

since i have one good copy installed and one bad copy installed can't i just delete the bad one and use the good one from before?

You don't have a bad copy...you just installed it on top of the previous version which was retarted.

Put in the recovery disk and when it says there is a previous version installed on this computer would you like to fix the problems....choose no.

get partition magic, you can split your harddrive into 2 parts, put everything you want to back up onto one part, then reformat the other. all of that can be done in partition magic.

If you have any software that you added after you bought the computer then burn it on a data cd and re-install them later. All the hardware should be on the recovery disk.

i dont have a recovery disk, all i have is; dell tools cd, reinstallation cd microsft windows xp home edition including service pack 1, dell dimension resource cd and, reinstallation cd microsft windows xp home edition
