update: messed with the settings a bit. am happier with it now. adjusted some filters, settings on the HU etc. its a good all around sub i think. good daily driver IMO.

Looks good, but I know excatly what you mean by tinsel slap. Mine was so bad, it ripped the spider landing and I sent it back and they said I blew it. I am like yeah off 900rms on a 1000rms speaker. Now about 10 inches of the surround is ripped! Have no idea how that happens. This was on a Q though.

hmm, thats weird though. tinsel slap on a Q? im really aiming towards it being a manufacture defect. and it could be a possibility that you clipped the Q a bit which would give the coil some discoloration, which FI thought was end user abuse, when in actuality it was nothing more than a coincidence that the defect come up and you slightly clipped the sub for a week prior?

just a guess. and im not sure i made total sense in the post.

i wouldnt hesitate to try the Q again bro.

eh. the 15" driver is recommended for sizes up to 5 cubes, and after impedance rise im sure the driver is at its RMS power handling. the box is actually closer to 4.3 or so.

none the less tinsel slap should not be an issue. especially since the driver is not bottoming out.
