Multiple batteries and fusing...question!!!

I am probably going to run a Kinetik HC2000 as my primary battery, then a Batcap 800 as my rear battery/distribution block. My questions are:

Where all do I need fuses to be safe?

On another note, what type of battery terminals are you all using on these since they aren't regular style posts?

I really need to get this stuff ordered for next weekend's install, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks,

ryan

So, if I am understanding all of this correctly, I would fuse within 18" of the front battery and then run the wire straight to the back battery with no extra fuses....then, after the second battery, i would place another fuse inline before the amp?

So essentially in a one amp scenario, I would only be running a total of two fuses before the amp?

On edit, GMCJimmy2000, I will be running 1/0 gauge throughout; thanks for the suggestion.

The two fuses should both be on the positive line between your batteries. To be extra safe you can place a thrid one from your trunk battery to your amp, but it's not necessary. It's unlikely a car crash would damage that wire.

The easy way of thinking about it is fuse after every constant current source. If the wire between the two batteries were to short out, both batteries are going to short to that spot. You need to break the circuit for both. One fuse can't do that. You need a fuse next to each battery on that wire.

Thank you all for the explanations!!!

Truth.

There's also no real need for a fuse on the 2nd batt + ----> Amp, unless you want that little extra protection.

Thank you for taking the time to draw that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif That is exactly how I was thinking it should be at first, but I didn't know if it was overkill. I guess as some are saying between the rear batt and the amp is overkill, but I am going to go ahead and do it anyway.

Thanks again everyone for the replies, now I am going to call up Knukonceptz tomorrow and get busy ordering, woot!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif:D
