Mtx ta91002

Hey guys. I had an old mtx ta91002 laying around for some time. I couldnt even remember if it worked. So i went to just see if it would power up by simply running a lead off the power and ground and jumping the remote to 12v. The amp powered on but made a swoosh sound and smelled a little funny when hooking it to my battery. The green lighting on the amp came on. (These amps have the bright green lights to make it look cool) i know i didnt cross the positive and negative because the amp would have just smoked and not lit up. I touched the wires to the battery again and got the same results..it comes on but smells weird. The amp does have fans but the smell scares me and i dont want anything to happen to my car or current set up. Can an amp smell funny after not seeing power for awhile. Thinking maybe the noise was the fans? Again, dont wanna power it on too long and have a fire. Thanks!!

Is there a critter inside?... where was it stored?.. cockroaches eat insulation after all... I had an old TV that did that... LOL!
