Mtx 9500 or jl w7

The 9500 was designed by TC sounds. Its a hell of a motor but they went very cheap on the soft parts. The W7 is a SQ sub but it can get loud, not so much the 10 or 12 but the 8 and 13 are pretty good. Its a 3 ohm sub so the 1000 will only be giving it 700 or so watts. If you can fit a 12 or 15 do it, a 15 will be the only way you will get close to "beating up" your trunk on that power. If you already have the L7 I would try a good box for it before you change subs. Its going to be pretty **** large, 5 cubes.

Its a truck not a trunk i think ..why i didnt even consoder a box for the l7 as i hate them ..i think he will be happy and save money with the x12 on that power

another option would be a Hdc3 10 or 12 on 1000rms, that would do nicely

I hope you're not expecting to be as loud or louder going from a single 15" to a 12" or 10". It's not going to happen if everything else stays the same. Why do you want to get rid of the L7? Not loud enough? Doesn't sound good enough?

As was already mentioned, I would spend the money to have someone build you a quality box for the L7 first.

...its really a weak 4" coil by todays standards..and the w7 is a solid sub but like is said way overpriced

I'm not saying you guys are wrong but can you elaborate on why the MTX motor is "weak" or no good? This is just the first time I have read that anywhere.

I didnt say anything.abt the motor ..its ok it the weak *** 2 layer coil and bullshit.soft parts and the reason i didnt suggest doin a proper ported box for the L7 is that it would be like 5 cubes and even then its still a L7..so if he gets a x12 in the right box it will outdo the kicker by leaps and boumds in every category possible

^^^This is a good option. i dont like kicker myself. but in the right enclosure the L7 can get decently loud.

Hell my wife has a L7 15 in her ford focus with a decent custom box. It actually sounds good SQ wise for what it is and she's done a 143.8db on Termlab on a 30 second music average with a kicker zx1000.1 and 6gauge power wire and ALL stock electrical and no extra batts. She would gain just from upgrading her wire but shes happy with it. "Dont fix whats not broken" lol

Like the song says... "Get Buck in here!!" He can design a good box for ya that'll suit your needs and won't absolutely bone **** your wallet. Compared to the pricing of the subs you mentioned, this should save some major money. Use that extra money for deadener and electrical upgrades, that way the power is clean and the sub will last longer. It'll be worth it in the long run. That would be like building a house on a foundation of sand, no matter how much you invest on top, the cheap short cuts that you take in the beginning will be the downfall.

Just going to reSpond to the first couple post I read 1 w7 hands down will out perform a 9500 I hate that sub personally really good paper weight IMHO. But it will take more power than the w7 which is rated for I believe 800 for the 10 and I wouldn't give it any more than what it is rated for.

Which that said neither one Will come close to getting louder than a 15 inch l7? So I'm confused at what u want at this point.
