I never stated MTX owns Kicker, simply stated I would go with the MTX over the Kickers. Tid for Tat, both co have been around along time and to be honest I don't care about some comp thats not a true sound for me and mine. You think you know it all because you love one co more than another, get real and get over yourself. I still say MTX over Kicker for this guy's choice. By the way MTX is not whats hot in Cali, in fact everything is JL this and JL that, with others like Alpine, Polk, Eclipse, and even some MTX. Kicker isn't one of those subs that everyone wants or consider. Mostly it's JL, well anything JL. I personally would like to hear some JL W6v2 next to some MTX 8500. Well if the West Coast is such a huge portion of Kickers sales why is it only a few mom and pop shops carry kicker??? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif why is it every shop that I go to put down kicker and only deal with Kicker when someone brings something in they just bought off the net?????

maybe the pawn shops you frequent won't have Kicker, but still, none the less, the west coast is the biggest area sales, as I'm sure for most car audio manufactures

turn about fair play? if he is considering a type of woofer he or she must have a reason. to say the 8500 is better than a l7 without getting into details is about as wack as the camaro vs mustang arguements got lol. as far as comps go you dont hear spl you hear sound quality and in contests they score you on that. granted its opinion still but win a world championship thats a whole lot of opinion to swing.

Ive personally played with both several times. Not only were my l7s louder than the 9500s, they also sounded better imo. They did it will less power also: But to each his own i guess..

lol it is fun trying to believe a guy that noes and THEY ARE all knowing. in listening tests from MANY people even a solox sounded better. just because a 9500 is a big woofer with an ebay bonner doesnt make it the best. not saying its junk but for the $ there are quite a few options out there

Stupid arguments again... everyone has their own opinion. I've heard thunder 9500s reach deafening levels with the right power and installation, but I've also heard L7s get pretty nasty(terrible SQ IMO though). It's ALL in the instALL. Both are great drivers, if I had the money, I'd get 2 12" 9500s over 2 12" L7s, but 9500s demand a great deal of power to get them to reach insanity. I just sold my 9500 and snailshell to my friend who used to own a type r, he's running it off an 801d, for the power he's running it off, it gets pretty intense, shaking the windows of my house from the driveway isn't a problem is all i have to say. I recently heard the 2006 L7s and was pretty impressed with the SPL, but wasn't overly satisfied with the SQ coming from them (each L7 in it's own 2.25 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 35hz) which is why I will be purchasing 4 12" L7s, they get pretty freaking loud, they are less than dirt cheap, and the new design...well, it's just plain sexy. Dunno if that helps any, but they are both great subs, if you get a good employee discount on the L7s, get them. The 9500s locally are about 359.99 for me which is pretty cheap for such a great sub IMO.

why is it stupid? lol all threads like this are. i tend to look at what people use in competitions in 1 way or another and look at the success they have with it. mtx is good but its been a long time since team thunder force broke up

I don't look at what people use in competition simply because I don't compete. I look at what I've heard, and liked. Numbers don't mean anything to me if I don't like the way they sound or if i've not heard them

who said i dont listen? i go to alot of shows db drag and sq listen and see. its alot better than going to a demo board at a shop and listening to it there heck even most local type demo stuff i see is pre fab. anyone is entitled to have an oppinion but when you dont know the whole side of anything (like getting to listen to world class sq cars to see what all the hubub is) then dont say x sub is horrible at sq. a solobaric might not be an IB'd IDW but its still one of the better boxxed woofers i have heard/owned and yes they can sound smooth and natural with alot of authority
