MTX 8100D on fire WTF?!?!?!?

tonight I rearranged the car. Cleaned up my wires and put in my new sub box. I mounted my 81000d to the back of my fold down seat. Looked great! I turn on the system and instead of the red and blew glow i normally get I get a Brite orange flickering glow. Cool I thought... But what do i have back there with a brite orange L.E.D?!?!? Turns out one of my Amp feet is on fire at the screw hole and burning up my carpet! Now I don't claim to be a rocket scientist or anything........... But I swore that model MTX amp had rubber feet with no metal contacting the frame of the amplifier?!?! So what gives?

I unscrewed it for sure! It still works though I need to get more fuses! Thank the car audio gods for those lol! But aren't the feet of the amp rubber? if so why did it start a fire. I know if you ground the body to metal your asking for trouble what happened with this though?

Do you have electric or heated seats? its possible u screwed into the wiring bridging a ground and hot wire with the screw.

Sounds like something is wrong with the amp and the fire happend to catch where it did.

its grounding at the rubber feet somehow amps works fine. I keep trying to strap it down different ways but somehow the rubber feet conduct electricity.

it's not the feet conducting, it's the screw. those are called "isofeet" and they are rubber //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

move the amp and see if it continues

The screw was starting it but the feet are conducting. I fixed it i took some grey wire screw caps took out the twisties cut the tops and used them as hold downs and put the screws thru them. Problem solved!
