MT 18 hits151db on Radio...but CD skips!!!

yes it does. unless its sitting on the seat next to me. or someones holding it, haha...which is why I may be going the Ipod route very very soon. its a ****ing hassle.
You just need a new HU my kenwood never skips

my pioneer deh-680mp does the same. skips hard.

Thought it was a problem with my orion 2500d.. removed the deck from the dash and held it and it didnt skip. put it back in and it skipped again.

Pioneer FTL.

My new install i am using a new deck.

Not sure on model yet. sorry to thread jack but open for suggestions.

No worries man...I'm sure skipping is a common problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

When I put a 2006 alpine deck the one with the touch glide thing on my uncle's harley it would skip every time he hit the gas. But he has since had me change it to a pioneer avic n3 and it has not skipped not once even over large speedbumps. I heard you could tune the deck to not skip with some diffrerne t springs on the inside but have never actually tried it.

Don't brace the deck! That just couples it to the vibration better. Thats why holding it in your hands or laying it on your seat will help.

I've tried it un-braced as well...I think it works a little better braced...

yeah my pioneer did it aswell
Umm did you have a fix or did you just switch to a new HU? If so which brand and model?

I'm hesisant to switch the HU...I really like the Pioneer HU...barring any solutions IPOD is the next logical choice...

ive been through this with alpine, panasonic, kenwood, pioneer, jvc, blapunkt, eclipse head units,so i can say when you start getting over or near the 150 mark on the term this is gonna happen, ive braced, unbraced, tried all kinds of things to get pass this, only things that have worked is my ipod, flash memory stick, and cd changer,my current setup is a kenwood 732 hu,and a 6 disc changer, this setup works great even at 153 on the term.

So changers don't skip? Better cushioning?

I've never had a changer (I just don't like them)...
