I'm looking into paying for downloading service. I know they exist, but I can't seem to find any that look good.

What I'd like is:

1.Cd Quality files (or atleast 320 bitrate)

2. A monthly pay term.

3. A version where I can pay X amount for unlimited downloads per month

4. A humongous high quality Library.

I heard about one about 2 years ago through some PC magazine...something to the tune of Nerd PC or something, I don't remember, where someone I knew paid X dollars for 30 Gigs of download for a month, and he would download entire albums as separate tracks, in high quality. I want that.

Any ideas?

If there are any that need to be kept on the down low due to bandwidth reasons(overcrowding), please PM them to me, I won't spam it.

Thanks

Yes, but I don't have space to hold 100 + CD's, nor the money to pay for the packaging and shipping at this time.

It is also much easier to do it this way. Buy the service, get files, back them up on external drive, and we are set.

are you talking about a newsgroup service like usenet?

that's really no different than using torrents, you can still only download what people upload, you're never gauranteed anything

and most of the music people put on there are 160kb/s or less

it's really used more for videos and games, since they're too large to be shared by gnutella, etc.

I just started Napster. If youre looking for newer stuff, ie, like rap, they will give you a lot of it for the unlimited downloading but there is usually a couple songs from every cd that they'll make you pay $1 for. IMO, still a hell of a lot cheaper than cd's and its all good quality and download speeds are never less than 40 kbps. I typically get around 200 kbps after 10pm though. And its only $10 a month.

Edit: Take that back about Napster. It sucks balls to be quite honest. It only lets you download it DRM WMA format...which is ****ing useless. I've been trying to figure out how to break the protection on it but to no avail, everything has been patched that I try. Glad its only the trial.

Well, I read up on a few articles and how the online services like to scam. Random charges show up, etc...

So I'm just going to E-bay my cds, rip them down, and then re-sell or stockpile them. I guess it is the only safe route to go.

Thanks for the ideas guys, it just doesn't seem smart to take credit card risks like that. Plus, I cannot find anything online close to what I heard, although heyman I think was suggesting what i had hear about.
