mp3 player as a headunit

So my headunit got stolen the other day. I am looking to replace that with just an mp3 player. With hooking the mp3 player to the amp, will I need to use a line driver to get the signal voltage up? Thanks

most likely. i tried hooking an ipod to my amp and i had the gain crank and it wasn't nearly loud enough. are you running some sort of processor?

I do this to outrule a headunit for trouble shooting, but they only put out like .5v

i will be running no processor unless I can find an equalizer thats boosts input voltage. I have not found any that do that for certain.

ppi dcx-730 also works as a line driver. imo that's gonna sound like *** with no processing

i think that audiocontrol eql will push to 2volts. Tell me if i am wrong please.

any audiocontrol unit will work for this

i ran ipod into eqx for a while, later ran ipod into dvh940/dvc920 clarion combo

sq isn't perfect, but it works pretty darn well

thanks for the input, looking to get an eql then, small profile two channel, and an mp3 player (maybe a sansa if the price is right).
