mp3 cd or ipod connection?? feedback plz

what do yall think? should i get the ipod connection for an HU or just make a mp3 cd to save ~$50? and if i made it in a DVD-R, will the HU read as long the are mp3 files or do they need to read a DVD-R?

it's all about what you want. the head unit has to read dvd's to play dvd mp3's.
