Moving to Baltimore area...need advice/input

no. He wasn't active enough to warrant such action. I cant really even remember who it was. They actually stopped coming around. Well that screen name anyways. I always suspected that they just switched names.

I think they even made a thread about it, but everyone just dogged them for being such a tool and mike deleted/edited the thread removing any reference to the dirty message.

loL.

There are large sections of the city that are very good and have a great deal of money in it, along with surrounding parts of the county. But the prior mayor (now gov) and current gov, used and are using the city as a stepping stone, they could careless about the people and the problems. Murder, Cancer, and AIDS are all up. But hey, lets keep electing the same democrats that let it go to crap, and keep the same police heads in power that seem to allow staggering numbers of murders and crime.

The population is getting smaller, because smart people are moving out. I am there everyday, I work off of 28th street.

Yea Ive heard the city has been going downhill as well. I don't plan on spending a great deal of time there as it is, let alone live there. Sounds like Columbia or surrounding area is the place to be....anyone else

lets get this back on topic

I have heard and read some great things about Columbia, MD....I also know there is Columbia Assoc. dues. Does anyone know what they are and what they cover?
If you are renting, the landlord cant (isnt supposed to) charge you the CA dues. It only covers living there, nothing else. Columbia association (like the card) gets you pool access to all the pools, and all the gyms tennis courts and shit.

Sucks for you. Only place I would live in the city (and it was where I lived) is on the good side of Patterson park.(camden). But its ridiculously expensive now, and you still have to park on the street. Which I absolutely hate. The rent in some of those places is 1400+. I paid $1400 for a 2b/2.5ba townhouse with fully funished basement (was my room) with designated parking, pool and tennis courts and people come and cut your lawn. In elkridge. There is no comparison.

I still say Howard county, specifically columbia or elkridge. Im stickin to that answer.

I would take a VERY serious look into Gaithersburg. It's a fairly new area, but it's a great location with some decent schools nearby (Thomas S. Wootton). Not to mention, the Washingtonian Center area is PRIME for shopping, dining, and entertainment. I have a friend that has a 5 story townhouse that is right across the street from a Lowes cineplex. It's very quiet for how much hustle and bustle there is there and it seems to be a very safe neighborhood. Not to mention, it's very close in proximity to Columbia and Baltimore. The I-270 corridor is RAMPANT with technology businesses and firms. And Montgomery County.... you can hardly go wrong. It's the richest county in Maryland.

If you didn't work all the way down in Columbia, I would suggest Bel Air (Where I live) because it's a more quiet, but still very developed area, great for raising kids, very good schools. But I think Gaithersburg is a VERY good bet for you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Gaithersburg is a little too far west than we were looking. My girl has to work in west baltimore and Id hate to have her do that commute daily.

I would consider Canton and Hamden or even Federal Hill. Cannot afford the Art district, harbor condo's or even Roland Park. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I just realized i called it camden. B-more on my brain. I meant canton. Like 3 minutes from canton square. it still sucked, it was nice and everything, but living on a main street (every street in bmore) sucked. Parking on the street sucked, coming home at 1 am and having to drive all around the neighborhood looking for a parking space. Then The neighbors silver deville got rear ended, while it was parked by some guy. In the spot that I usually park in, I came home a little after it happened. I just dont like city living compared to county I guess. Federal Hill is ridiculous now, I dont even know why people pay that much for that shit.

I live in Philly now and parking is ridiculous, cant even leave at any point on a weekend without having to circle around 40 times to get a spot when I get back. im through with that, parking is an important factor in looking at these places.

Someone recommended cantonsville to me today, is this location worth looking into?

catonsville is basically ellicott city to me. If parking is a big factor for you(like it is for me) dont even consider living in baltimore. If you live in an apartment complex or some other complex in catonsville youll have parking. But my friend bought a townhouse in catonsville, he still has to park on the street. Catonsville is basically going towards the city, its on the outskirts of the west side. Off of route 40. Catonsville is more towards the city than Ellicott city.
