Mountain Bikers...question?

i just got into mountain biking last fall....picked up a Trek 4300...front suspension, disc brakes, etc etc....i was wondering if anyone had a good website where i could learn how to do a nice tune up on it before i hit the trails again in nice weather.

The bike shop charges like $60, and i want to learn myself. Right now the only thing im really having trouble with is the chain rubbing the (thing that changes the bigger gears) at some points...but id like to know how to tune up the entire thing.

thanks

i always just google deraileur adjustments and look around there. MTBR.com is a good one as well.

new cables help a lot, i try and replace them at least every season. i just made an order off jenson usa for new cables, pads, cassette, chain. just a few things to get my bike tuned up for the spring/summer.

u have a H screw and a L screw on ur front deraileur. H limits how high up yuo will shift (away from the bike, shifting into say 2 or 3 if u have, which i believe u do on the 4300). L limits how low you shift (coming back towards the bike shifting down into say 2 or 1). adjust those as neccessary and if u need more help ask here.

the rear is a little bit more difficult, but a lot of the time if you pull the slack out of your rear cable, you can dial in just by using the barrel adjuster. there are screws back there, but 90% of the time you wont need to touch them.
