i contacted ohio generators concerning one, if i they can do one for me then im gonna go with them because i can pick it up instead of having it to ship it and everything.

I got all excited when I found such a great deal from motor city reman and didn't check around enough.

I have a 200 amp from them on my Thunderbird... Had it for over 2 years, not one problem whatsoever... I would definately buy from them again. I had great service from them, answered all the questions I had, and got the alternator from them promptly...

There is a 160 amp alternator from Motor City Reman in my parent's GTP. Its been working great for almost a year. No problems.

I don't know about the e-mail replies... I called in with the questions and placed my order by phone. But, it was still great service.

Any company, no matter how large and trusted, can let a few bad products leak, but it is what they are willing to do to make the situation right which makes a good company great to deal with.

Anything that says REMAN in the title probably wont be as good as NEW.

Actually, if remanned by a good shop, it's better than new. I reman alts, starters, waterpumps, idlers, small DC motors, and axles for a living. We have access to better aftermarket replacement parts that have been far improved upon over the factory components. Also, remanned units are subject to running line changes in case the manufacturer had a problem with any of their parts.

A short while ago, GM had a big problem with rectifiers on the CS130 alts. They had to recall a mass amount of product and remedy the situation. The aftremarket was way ahead of them and had already had better components available, and GM actually used one of these companies for the fix.

TO the original poster, you have the DOHC or OHV 3.0? If it's the DOHC, you have a 4G alt, if it's the OHV, it's the 6G. The good thing about the 6G is many of the parts interchange with the 3G and there's a myriad of great components available for them in the aftermarket. The problem you get with a lot of the so called "high output" alts that are a factory replacement is, that many people will just drop in a higher output stator without compensating for the increase throughout the other components. A lot of the time, you'll have failures, or an alt that is labeled as "high output," but in fact puts out little more than factory ratings.
