MOSFET ( Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) is a newer type of transistor, used the in input and output stages of amplifiers. They generate less heat, are more reliable, but are voltage sensitive, unlike their Bipolar counterparts. Most newer generation amps use MOSFET's, although there is no reason to buy a MOSFET amp to match your head...
