Actually, it can be done on short carpetting by a compotent dancer. However, dance floors and stages are not carpetted for a reason because they just have way too much friction. First find a flat, smooth surface to dance on like wood or linoleum. Second, you want a pair of flexible shoes with a smooth sole that has as little grip as possible. You can put molehair patches or duct tape to the bottom if you don't have anything that works; just remember ductape adhesive is a ***** to remove once it has been on too long.

Here are a few more links too:

i can do it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

left heel up and under you, right foot slides back and when it meets the left foot, heel drops and right foot assumes that position.

You are talking to someone who likes to dance and has many friends who have tried to do move and turns on carpetting. The hips moves while your foot stays stationary, and the next thing you know, your knee is twisted with you on the ground. More people have done it than want to admit it. Plus, it can end dance careers in a heartbeat. My advice is to anyone who doesn't realize that carpet is not an optimal dance surface that will screw up your knees worse than cement...
