Sorry for not searching but firefox won't actually let me complete a search. I"m going to build a box for 2 PA Mofo 15's this saturday for a friend. i looked it up on PA's site and they said 3.4 cubes at 40hz. would these really be musical at 40 hz or would it be better to tune it at 35hz? i don't know if his amp has a subsonic or not.

Yup these are subs to get loud with, not musical.
That sounds hypocritical. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Loudness would be something I would describe as my ears hearing. In that sense, I assume you are implementing they meter high? In that case, pressure is felt not heard so you can't describe them as only "loud" subs.

So they are SPL subs?

Which is also wrong, I have heard a setup tuned to 31hz with 2 15s and they were pretty decent on the low end. They just don't like lots of power.

Ok let me make this easier for YOU to understand what I was reffering to. The MOFO subs are more designed to be an SPL sub, more so than an SQ (or even SQL). I'm with enough messing around with a box design, they "could" sound good. I've owned (as well as built boxes for) many of PA subs. They call for a high Hz because that's what they are good for. As far as power, these thing will laugh at 1K. I've seen them take 1500 daily. They do like (and can take) a lot of power.

You must be dense. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif They are entry subs. 1500 is nothing. They can't even be classified as strictly SPL subs. They are just cheap knockoffs for sealed boxes. You must be building wrong boxes. I've seen some in 30hz tuning and below. They aren't DD subs so they don't need no 50hz tuning.

ehh i 'll just build it at 35 hz. Even though he is the type that doesn't even know what SQ is my integrity won't let me build a box that sounds like complete crap and could possibly blow his subs if he try's to play songs with too low bass too loud since i don't know if his amp has a subsonic or not. hell i don't even know what amp he has on them. His setup is already pretty loud but the box is fugly cause his trunk had a leak and the MDF got really swole up. I think his current box is the one i made for 2 CVR's that i had since it looks really familiar but **** if i remember what i tuned it too if it is that box
