Hi all. I just signed up today and I have been goin through the forums. I am familiar with car audio and electronics and have a good background but I'm newer to subwoofers...well not new just not all that familiar, i know the basics. The reason I'm here is to see if you guys can help me find a cheap amp that will push my new sub. I'm ordering a Power Acoustik MOFO 12. The sub is 2400 watts and 1200rms. Another question is should I get an amp the pushes 1200 watts so I don't have the risk of blowing the subs? By cheap I'm lookin 100-225 bucks max....I do know not to get Pyle, Legacy or Pyramid.

Also, PA reccommends a ported box, IMO I don't like them so I want to go sealed. Does 2.25CUFT sound good?

Thanks

Im not familiar with PA subs but usually a manufacture recommends a type of box for a reason, you didnt say what voice coils you are getting but if you can wire it to 1 ohm check out the sundown 1000d, it does 1000w rms @ 1 ohm and you can get a used one for around 220 on the forums

If you do go sealed I think 2.25 would be to big too

Thanks, i seen that the fubar's in a sealed box are 2.25 and the mofo is just a little more powerful. The voice coil is dual 2ohm, so yea it'll go to 1

Don't seal that sub up, its a ported sub, follow the manufacturers specs and port it, if you want sealed, get something different.

A buddy of mine had a mofo in a ported box, it got very loud, didnt sound so good but it did the job he wanted it to!

If the manu suggests ported and doesn't even offer sealed cu ft, there is a reason. Pick a different sub. Look at ID Q or ID Max. I wouldn't go to their website, however, as I just tried and my explorer crashed and then my Symantec just warned me that Trojan.Asprox tried to infect my computer from the Image Dynamics website.

Ok thanks, let me look....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Just google IDQ or IDMax and read about it from other websites //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Local audio store owner was puting mofos in 2 cube boxes sealed and couldn't get them to last a few weeks. I had mine in a 2.5 cube ported for little more then year and a half. Still have them in storage just one makes a little noise from getting clipped to near death.

Ok thanks,

Let's say I wanted to make my own box. It needs to be tuned at 40hz how would I do that? I'm sure if I look into this forum I would find out but I'm kinda busy. A link would be great. It
