Module for Onstar?

Ok I'm installing a new HU in my 05 Avalanche. Do I have to get the extra module for Onstar? I never use Onstar, so I could care less if I have it or not. I'm just wondering if there is some reason I have to get it, but if I don't im just going to forget about it.
