Modifiying the Xbox

i just got a xbox from my cousin and i was hoping for any tips on what chip to buy so that i can put a bigger hardrive to burn games to it.

i went and its confusing me with all this stuff i just want to know the name of a good chip to mod it to burn games to the hard drive.

Buy this and this. After that you still have to flash your new HD and I believe you have to install a new dashboard. Again, I would check with xboxscene.com to verify that I am correct with everything. i sent mine out to get modded too. mine was modded by ahocs.com.

mine has 3 different harddrives 1 for emulators, 1 for games/movies/music, and the last one is the normal xbox harddrive so i can play on xbox live. mine is a v1.6 and is using a SmartXX chip with a LCD screen.

You do realize that this is not a plug and play deal don't you? There are a lot of different chips that do different things. I showed you a very, very basic chip because that is all you said you wanted. Even after the chip is installed and the HD is in you still need to do some programing. is the programming hard? i knew a guy who was an idiot and he was able to modify his xbox, i want to test it out and se if i can do it.

No idea, that is why I sent it out. I bought all the stuff and shiped it out to a guy to do the install. For me it was sorth paying someone else to do the job rather than screw up my xbox and everything that I just bought!

i got my xbox for free so i don't really want to pay someone else to do it. im trying to do it as cheaply as possible.

how much did they charge you?

I dont know for sure...since they guy i bought it from got it modded by that site. the best thing to do is email them and ask.
