mixing different brand speakers

I am trying to keep my Polk Momo tweeters in the dash (the crossover is hidden behind my head-unit) Use Pioneer 3-way speakers in all 4 doors, and put 2 6x9 Infinity 3-way's in the back. For a total of 8 speakers.

Now--BRAND NAMES ASIDE ------ is this possible?

(Main question--- if I put 3-way pioneer speakers in the front door, will the Polk Momo tweeters still get a signal even though the Pioneers have their own tweeter built in?)

Possible? Yes.

Overkill? Yes.

Way too many speakers? Yes.

Will it sound like poop? Depends on your "taste", but probably. If sheer output is your goal....yeah, it will work. Count out good accurate sound. And I doubt you'll be safe powering all of the speakers from your HU, you'd definitely need an external amplifier.

Yes, though I don't know why you want to bother keeping the Polk Momo tweeters. Or why you'd want 4 speakers in the rear.

Get one component set up front (or co-axials if you are sticking with HU power) and one set of speakers (co-axials) for the rear AT MOST and be done with it.

yeah, i don't think that splitting the HU power into eight speakers is a good idea. probably better off getting a good set of components rather than having all them speakers...

I am just looking for very very loud mid-range. Whether the high's are things of beauty or not doesn't matter too much to me. I don't exactly listen to "good" music (LP, Korn, Disturbed, etc.)

Same general music genre I listen to.

Doesn't mean they are not deserving of a good all around sound system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if you want LOUD -- get a nice horn setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif ... Would sound much better than 6 tweeters thats for sure! -- More expensive and much more complicated since you would need to go active... You would want some EQ too...

Mixing brand names doesn’t matter though.

Thats pretty much the music I listen to, and it is worth having a nice sounding system as well as the loud factor... A HLCD setup would be much louder than my current Dayton RS setup though (plenty loud enough to cause hearing loss....)

Even if I keep the polks--- I was thinking of putting in a custom addition in the rear area of my jeep liperty to hold 2 Infinity Reference 3-way 6x9's. Just to supplement the mid-range, and add a little bit of high's to the people in the back.

They are on sale this week at circuit city, I think $100 bucks for a pair. That's a pretty good deal.

I wish you guys could've heard my oldsmobile. Not only could you see it coming a mile away (it was a vivid canary yellow 2-door) but you could hear me coming at least 1/4 mile away.

I will probably be 50% deaf by the time I'm 30, but it's worth it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Still a waste when you could spend that money where it was important....upgrading your front speakers to a better set than you could afford before.

Rearfill = waste of money

ok--- well I still have a decent quality 4channel alpine amp in my garage. Could I possibly get two additional tweeters mounted on the doors (leaving the existing polks in the dash) and use the 4 channel amp to power them? THe MTX tweeters sound pretty good.

(other 2 channels are going to 2 aura bass shakers)
