Mixing AGMs

Hey guys. I plan on getting some batteries soon (one under the hood, one in the trunk) and I was wondering - is it okay to mix AGMs made by different companies? I would think so as long as they're the same type of battery, but I honestly don't know. I was thinking about throwing Super Start® Platinum 34PLT - AGM Battery | O'Reilly Auto Parts under the hood and DieHard Platinum Battery : Deals on Quick Ignition Battery at Sears in the trunk. So, would this present problems or would I be ready to go? Think they'd hold up to a Crescendo BC2000? I don't think O'reilly's offers a bigger AGM, and Duracell isn't offered in my state. Believe me, I've already checked. Anyway, input on this would really be appreciated. Thanks.

You should be fine. If you have a HO alt, you probably don't even need both batteries. I run similar power on a 240a alt and 55ah battery with almost no voltage drop at full tilt.

I haven't been able to scrape up enough for a HO alt yet. I'm putting on band-aids right now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

If you're planning on keeping that vehicle for at least a couple years, save the money you were going to spend on the battery and put it towards a HO alt... The only reason I got one is because my stock alt took a crap on me, but now I'm glad that it did.

Well, all I've got right now is a cheap Interstate under the hood. I'd like to replace that regardless, so that'll probably be ~$150 either way. I COULD buy a HO alternator now and forget the second one, but that'd put my build on hold for quite a while (because of financial issues). I was more thinking of running my subs on these two and hoping my alternator holds up until I can get a new one.

If you're on a budget, I'd talk to @Boomsday ; and figure out the biggest battery you could fit under the hood of your car, then buy two of the same one (one under the hood and one in the back). You'd save a little money doing that rather than buying new batteries and could have more money saved towards the alt.

Also, talk to vertex and see how much a mechman alt for your car would be. It might be cheaper than you're expecting.

you should be good. i have a deka & a C&D tied in together and they are fine

Electrons can't read. Just be sure the batteries are the same style and chances are, they were made in the same place by the same people from the same materials.... regardless the name on the outside.

This is correct, lol.. Deka, Duracell, & Oreilly's are the same.. And I'm pretty sure DieHard and Odyssey are the same.
