BUCK FAMA
Dad and I made a trip to the Mark Twain Nat'l Forest to try our hand at some Missouri public land hunting. Had one hell of a trip. Called in gobblers 7 consecutive mornings. I took 3 myself and called my dad in one to fill our tags.
First bird. Four year old with 1 1/8" sharp spurs and the thickest beard I have ever killed on a turkey even though it was just 8 1/2"
Second bird. 2 yr old with a 9 1/2" beard. He came in with two other gobblers. First time to call 3 into gun. Awesome having all three of them gobble at the same time 40 yards in front of me.
Third bird. Another 2 yr with with a 9" beard. This bird was hot. From the time I sit down till I shot was about 8 minutes. Very rarely find a bird this willing to cooperate.
Dad's bird I called in for him. I had called this bird in 2 mornings early but couldn't get a shot. It rained overnight and some this morning so the bird was SOAKING WET when we got him.
One hell of a trip and an end to my turkey season.
I will now return to my old forum activities.
