missing bass

i need some help figuring this out first of all this is my setup

pioneer 7800-mp w/ ipod adaptor

cdt hd-52

cdt ef-51

JL 300/4

single 12w6v2 ported box built to jl specs

jl 500/1

so the problem is im missing certain frequencies on the sub

when i listen to a song i'll get the low end rumble fine and it hits

but then when the bass line gets higher it just totally drops and i'll hear shit

it actually sounds lower than my stock system i didnt do the install myself

could it be something with the crossovers ? or amp settings ? i tried messing

with the head unit and it seems to help a little but not a whole lot im planning

forgot to add could the bitrate on the mp3 have something to do with all of this ? the lowest i go is 128

it's either a crossover problem, you have your subwoofer lowpassed too low, or it's a phasing problem, try reversing the phasing of the subwoofer.

if reversing the phase dosnt help i would set my lpf to around 60 80 at the highst but 60 usualy sounds lovely. also ur headunit might have a sub lpf on ti to look a little bit more in ur menu

i was thinking and could it be im underpowering my mids ? i have a 300/4 running cdt hd-51s and cdt ef-52s im not sure how much power they take i got dif numbers from dif sites does anyone know for sure ?

Your mids might not play down to where your sub is crossed at.

do your mids have a crossover on them? if not u can purchase them seperately.

Sounds to me like the problem is with the mids, not the subs.

Where are your speakers highpassed at?
